PJM 620 Unit 3 IP
Description
Unit 3 – IP
Assignment Details:
The following builds on the project scenario given in Unit 1: Amazing Coffee House Case Study.
Your presentations were excellent, and the project work is moving forward. Jim, the sponsor, has now decided that it is time to evaluate schedule options using both waterfall and agile models.
1. Use the MS Project software to create a project schedule based on the waterfall model. Accomplish the following:
Enter the deliverables and outputs. Using MS Project, enter all of the deliverables, activities, and tasks into a new MS Project file, and save it with your name and course number.
Sequence your activities. Now that you have defined your deliverables and activities, ensure that they are listed in the order that they should be completed. If one activity is dependent on another, be sure to list that dependency in the Predecessor column.
Estimate the activities. Assign an initial work effort to each of the activities.
Estimate the duration. Now that you have defined the schedule activities, sequence them in a logical order and define the dependency relationships between them and the estimated resources. Add the activity duration for all activities, and then add a start date to each task. The finish date should automatically populate. If you have a conflict, review your predecessor relationships. Remember that you do not need to add anything to the summary tasks (the deliverable or output). The summary tasks will update automatically as soon as you link the activities.
Assign resources. In the Resource Name column in your MS Project file, add a resource name to each task. You may use hypothetical names.
2. In addition, develop a roadmap based on the agile model. Your agile roadmap should outline the time frames for major themes of work—What you plan to deliver and when. This can be depicted using a Gantt chart created in various ways and applications such as MS Project, Power Point, Project Libre, or other applications. Access the Project Management Center for information that may help you with this assignment.
