Assignment: Creating a Moral Code for a New Planet

Background:
The United Galaxies, which is in charge of everything in the universe, has chosen you to write a document that will set up the fundamental moral guidelines for a newly found planet, the Blank Moral Slate (BMS). With a range of species including humans about to move to the BMS, this planet presents a unique chance to start everything fresh, including its moral code.

Your Task:
You’re tasked with writing an informative yet concise document called a white paper. This report’s purpose is to help readers understand a complex issue, solve a problem, or make a decision. In this case, it will present the basic ethical rules we should follow on BMS, show how they would operate, and discuss their pros and cons.

Choose one of the moral (Subjectivism, Relativism, Ethical Egoism, Utilitarianism, Kantian Ethics, Virtue Ethics, and Feminist Ethics and Ethics of Care) to base your code. Have your paper explain how the chosen moral framework would function on BMS and why it is the best choice.

Be creative and use your own examples to illustrate your points.

Report Structure: THIS SECTION IS SUPER IMPORTANT!!!!!
Break your report into three parts:
1. Introduction (300-400 words): Describe (DO NOT EVALUATE THE THEORY JUST YET) the chosen moral theory, how it operates, and how it can be applied to a hypothetical situation on BMS.
2. Benefits (300-400 words): Talk about what you believe is the most appealing aspect of this moral framework and/or why it’s a better choice than the others.
3. Possible Issues and Comparisons (500-700 words): Discuss potential problems with your chosen theory, how it can address these issues, and how it compares to one of the other moral frameworks (just choose one for comparison).

Formatting:
You’re free to choose the style of your paper, as there are no required templates or specific formats. However, ensure the three parts of your report are separated and a word count is included. Failure to do this will result in the deduction of some points.

Important Note:
Avoid simply repeating what you’ve learned from lectures. Use your own words to express your understanding and defend your choice. Incorporate your own examples, be creative, and try to convince your readers why your choice is the right one.

While you’re encouraged to put your own spin on things, ensure you show a good understanding of the moral theory you’ve chosen. Have some fun with it, and take a few risks with your presentation and arguments. Remember, this is your proposal–make it yours while still accurately representing the moral theories.
