Assignment Requirements
- What species did you identify Evidence #1 to be from? Use at least one structural/anatomical feature, and describe how you came to this conclusion. You may wish to revisit the trace evidence lesson to review hair structure/anatomy.
What species did you identify Evidence #2 to be from? Use at least one structural/anatomical feature, and describe how you came to this conclusion.
- What species did you identify Evidence #3 to be from? Use at least one structural/anatomical feature, and describe how you came to this conclusion.
What species did you identify Evidence #4 to be from? Use at least one structural/anatomical feature, and describe how you came to this conclusion.
- Based on the UV light test, which pieces of evidence contain body fluids? How did you reach this conclusion?
Based on the Kastle-Meyer Blood tests, which pieces of evidence contain blood? How did you reach this conclusion? Why were the positive and negative controls included?
- Looking at the results of the DNA electrophoresis:
Do any of the lanes match? Which ones?
Explain why these lanes match. Use the following terms for full credit: restriction enzyme, fragment, and positive charge.
Based on your evidence analysis, who is your prime suspect? Is this the same prime suspect that you had last week? Which pieces of physical evidence support your hypothesis for who the prime suspect is? Does any of this evidence refute this?
