You may print out the Whitman poems for ease of reference.
The test will cover the following readings:
Henry David Thoreau’s Walden (excerpt: “How I Lived and What I Lived For” and “Economy”) and the essay “Civil Disobedience” You may choose a topic on one of the above selections, either from Walden or “Civil Disobedience”.
Walt Whitman’s poems “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry” and “Song of Myself” (Sections covered in class) You may print out the poems to refer to.
James Baldwin’s “Sonny’s Blues”
Thornton Wilder’s play, Our Town (You will be asked to choose one topic on the play)
This is a paragraph style test. You may leave out one reading, but you must choose one topic on Our Town.
