You are the Director of Safety and Health for a manufacturing organization. You are summarizing the past year’s injuries and illnesses with corporate management. The most frequent injury trend was associated with back injuries associated with material handling tasks. Before you complete your discussion regarding your strategy to curtail these injuries in the future, your supervisor, the COO, asks whether the company should establish a policy that would require workers to wear back belts when performing lifting and/or other material handling tasks when at work.
