Generally, stealing from your employer is unethical, and can lead to retrenchment or suspension (Pitts, 2010). Employees can take so much from their bosses including time, property and even money. Time is, however, the most common mode of stealing. This is the highest form of stealing, and employees who are guilty of the offense are termed unethical.

Whistleblowing entails identification and reporting of an illegal act amongst the employees. Most employers and employees agree that the right thing to do when something harmful is taking place at the lace of work is to make it known to the relevant authorities. It, therefore, translates that, a whistleblower would report any act of theft to the administration for amendment. The whistleblower is however encouraged to gather enough data about the offense to avoid unnecessary legal issues against them. Studies have however shown that it is very risky to be a whistleblower at the lace of work. The person serves a higher chance of losing friends and support from fellow workmates. It has also been established that the same whistleblowers do not treat the employers the same way. Business owners can steal wages, break labor laws or even violate the safety regulations, but they will not whistle about it.

The major cost of the act is that it can severely hurt the business both regarding the culture and loss of revenues. Stealing time is more or less the same as stealing money because these employees are paid for the amount of time they work. If more workers engage in taking time, the business can drain itself into severe financial loses.

The major risk of being a whistleblower is that the employer may decide to retaliate the blower. The laws that are established to protect the employees are insufficient and open to interpretation. For a lucky employee who will survive to lose their job, it is likely that they will face a hostile working environment. Some can be suspended on unclear grounds, while others will be demoted for blowing the whistle. If there are no strong employee protection laws, the person might lose the job easily. Other major risks include industry blacklisting, legal consequences in case the whistleblower did not gather enough information and professional violations.

There are numerous things that an employee can steal from the employer though money comes to the mind of the people when stealing is mentioned. Employees can steal property, time, supplies and proprietary company information which are confidential and pass it to the business competitors. The employees can conduct personal activities during the working hours hence stealing from the employee. Therefore, it is unethical to steal from the employers it affects the bottom line and the productivity of the business (Carberry et al, 2018). The unethical person continues to steal because he or she is benefiting from the action. On the other hand, whistleblowing can lead to resentment and hostility from the superiors and peers. The whistleblowers are faced with a dilemma on whether to protect the business or to face hostility from other people.

Stealing from the employer is unethical because it hurts the business. It can cripple the finances of the business and affect productivity. The business continues to lose its annual revenue which can end up collapsing of the business. A business that experiences stealing has a high probability of running bankrupt. The business will be forced to get loans to compensate for the lost property or money. It is unethical because it can lead to innocent people losing jobs (Borkovich, 2016). Some of the people can be suspected that they are part of the fraudulence when they are innocent hence end up being fired. The unethical person does not care about the consequences to other people or business as long as he or she benefits.

In conclusion, both whistles blowing and stealing from the employers have an impact on the business. Stealing from the employer is unethical because affect the productivity of the business and can lead to the bankruptcy of the company. It can also lead to innocent people being fired and collapsing of the business. The unethical person does not care about the effects of the stealing but continues to enjoy the benefit of stealing. Whistleblowing has a significant impact on the organization especially when the wrong information reaches to the customer. It Ruins the reputation of the company and can lead to hostility from superiors and peers.
