Read case #16 found in the Gibson textbook and complete all of the questions/deliverables in the assignment.

Put each group member’s name on the paper. Only one person in the group should submit the group’s response. (Multiple submissions by multiple members will result in a grading penalty.) Your submission should a single Excel .xls or .xlsx file.You may choose to also submit a doc or pdf file to detail your recommendation. If you do this, you make submit two files with no grading penalty. Make sure you submit your Excel file so the professor can see your calculations.

Case Notes:

The most difficult parts of this case are determining how to implement the adjustment factors for the different types of roads (Rural interstate, rural highway, etc.) and the assumptions you make with your map-type data. For the map-type data, determine the distance between Charlottesville, VA and each specific facility and the states along the route. Look at the driving directions and use reasonable guesstimates to determine the number of miles the truck will spend in each state. Use table(s) to perform your calculations. See my Excel screenshot below.

For the different types of roads, do all of your calculations without these adjustments and then factor in each of the different types of roads. Assume that a route exists between Charlottesville and the facility that matches each different road type. (Rural interstate, rural highway, etc.)

For example, the drive from Charlottesville, VA to Trenton, New Jersey is 256 miles. See the snips of the spreadsheet below to see how I solved for the first facility. You are not required to do it the way I’m doing it. Just explain your assumptions and your steps. Then give your recommendation(s).
