Twitter Forum: Issues in State Corrections [WLOs: 4] [CLOs: 2, 3]
Prior to beginning work on this discussion, review a state’s department of corrections Twitter (Links to an external site.) You can consider any of the Twitter pages for state correctional departments listed in the Recommended Resources for this week or you can do an Internet search to locate a specific state’s department of corrections Twitter page. The Twitter page must be the official account of that state department of corrections. For example, you could explore Tweets from one of the Twitter pages listed in the resource list for Week 2, or you could review the department of corrections’ Twitter page for a state of your choosing. Select a Tweet and explain how its content relates to a social justice issue and a criminal justice issue in state corrections.
Guided Response: Review several of your classmates’ posts. Respond to at least two of them by Day 7. Your peer responses should be substantive, at least 100 words in length, and recommend ways to extend their thinking. In each response, include comments that expand on how your classmates connect with either a social justice issue or a criminal justice issue in state corrections. Remember to follow netiquette when responding to classmates. Information regarding netiquette can be found under the Course Home tab in the About Discussions section.
Next, respond to posts addressed to you! Unlike other discussions in this course, you must respond to those who have posted to you. Simply respond to their follow-up question completely and substantially. Each student is then responsible for answering your question in secondary response. If you do not receive a question in a secondary response by Day 6, you may answer a question posted to another classmate. Remember that this is a discussion. If a classmate or your instructor asks you a question, it is your responsibility to respond. You are encouraged to post your required replies earlier in the week to promote more meaningful and interactive discourse in this discussion forum. Continue to monitor the discussion forum by 11:59 p.m. on Day 7 of the week and respond robustly to anyone who replies to your initial post.
